Pre Hospital Equestrian Trauma
Our Pre Hospital Equestrian Trauma course has been featured in the Medical Equestrian Association newsletter, summer 2007. The article was written by DR. John Gibson who attended.
'For me it was extremely helpful. It presented a logical approach to the work we do and emphasized stabilisation and dispatch rather then embarking upon any more invasive techniques, e.g. chest drains unless absolutely necessary.'

First off, the course last week was excellent. Content, quality and the enthusiasm of delivery, combined with anecdotal content from your trainers “real life” experiences and obvious commitment of individuals own time, as volunteers supplementing the ambulance service, bring it “to life”, if you’ll pardon the pun.
We are in the process of gathering existing trauma kits previously bought and in the hands of those who are now out of date. I’ll advise on the numbers of kits once that’s established.
In terms of supporting the initiative, the first hand experience I gained last week has confirmed and strengthened my feeling that these are highly beneficial skills to have both at and outside the work place.
It was particularly interesting to be made aware that ambulance response times, in our area, are increased due to local demand. Perhaps a question we should ask at the commencement of each of our contracts.
The feed back from attendees has been extremely positive.
Once again thanks to you, Phil, Cath and Mark for an excellent course.
