The IEC package is aimed at all organisations involved in pre-hospital care within the UK. It covers all aspects of the trauma training requirements you may have, from a stand alone course to a train the trainer style format with hospital placements and clinical governance to ensure you are providing the best possible care to the public you are serving.

The IEC – Advanced course is the most advanced, up to date, evidence based trauma course currently available in the UK for non-health care professionals. It covers all of the skills recently proposed by the Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care, the Chief Fire Officers Association and Association of Chief Police Officers at last years National Fire & Rescue Trauma conference and National Police trauma conference respectively. As well as the above the course is based on guidelines produced by the Faculty of Trauma & Resuscitation, the Resuscitation Council UK, the Royal College of Anaesthetists, the Royal College of Surgeons and the Health and Safety Executive.

The course covers a set of core units comprising of:

• Kinematics
• Catastrophic haemorrhage control including tourniquets and haemostatic dressings
• Airway management including O.P / N.P airways and Laryngeal Mask Airways
• Identification and treatment of life threatening injuries
• Splinting of fractures including traction splints
• Medical Gasses
• C-Spine Immobilisation
• Basic Life Support and Automated External Defibrillation
• Medical Emergencies

On top of the core units there are then a selection of optional units depending on your individual requirements including:

• Ballistics
• Suspension Trauma
• Crush Injury
• Paediatrics
• Extrication
• Care under fire

On successful completion of the course candidates are issued an IEC Advanced provider certificate valid for 3 years.
