Complex Care

Service users with complex needs are increasingly being cared for in the community setting as oppose to the more traditional care facility. The benefits this brings to the service user is immense but poses new challenges and risks that care providers often find daunting. Care providers in the community setting have an enviable enthusiasm to optimise care but need the training and skills to meet these new demands.

The complex care course tackles these areas head on by providing a unique all encompassing competency based course. The course comprises of modules that teach and assess candidates in the skills and knowledge necessary to provide the quality of care complex needs service users deserve.

The course has been written and will be provided by our experienced multi-disciplinary team. Our team comprises of Doctors, Qualified Nurses, Operative Department Practitioners, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Paramedics, and NHS Managers and is headed by our Medical Director who is a current NHS Anaesthetic Consultant.

We take great pride in our course delivery and have strict candidate to instructor ratio’s ensuring each candidate is provided with the attention they need. All instructors are registered health care professionals who have unique experience and qualifications in the courses they teach. Course feedback has always been excellent and the repeat custom we have gained from this has allowed us to become a national leader in this field.

The complex care course has a large practical element to it coupled with short punchy lectures. Competency will be assessed by means of an end of course written safety assessment and practical demonstration of skills. On satisfactory completion of this the candidate will be issued with a certificate of competency.

The course in brief comprises of the following areas:

  • Tracheostomy Care
  • Peg Feeding
  • Stoma Care
  • Oral Care
  • Medication administration
  • Hygiene
  • Wound Surveillance
  • Patient Dignity

This intensive course is held over a three day period but options for one day courses in specific modules exist. We can also design unique courses to meet your client’s needs.

In addition to course provision we also offer a ‘Clinical Governance’ service. As care provision becomes more clinically demanding a robust clinical governance structure is a necessity for any organisation providing this level of care. Our clinical governance service for ‘Care providing Organisations’ is proving to be extremely popular as demands for demonstrations of safety and accountability by commissioning bodies increases.

Our Clinical Governance package briefly comprises of the following areas:

  • Clinical Audit
  • Training and Education
  • Critical Incident Reporting
  • Documentation
  • Equipment selection
  • Risk Management
  • Monthly meetings to go through any issues with you that may have arisen.
  • We will always be on hand to offer advice on an ad-hoc basis
  •  Our multi-disciplinary team will also meet once per month to go through the events of the previous month and discuss and advise on clinical incidents that may have occurred.
  • Should a more serious clinical incident occur we will be available to go through this with you and support you where needed.
  • All teaching packages will be overhauled 4 times per year in accordance with best practice

This entire service is headed by our Clinical Director along with our multidisciplinary team of current NHS professionals.
